OUR STORY.

Formalities is a family-owned bridal and formal wear boutique in historic downtown Bemidji.

Store owner and operator, Char, began her career in the early '80's as a custom bridal gown designer. Her business grew quickly and she founded Formalities in 1987.

Her eye for fashion, combined with her hard work, integrity, knowledge, skill, and love for people have made Formalities what it is today; a wonderful place where you will find fabulous gowns, exceptional service, and you'll be treated with genuine kindness.

Rental or purchase - we have great options available in both categories. Our consultants will guide you through the season's hottest trends to design your special look.

ALTERATION DEPARTMENT.

Alterations are a highly skilled service and are offered exclusively on Formalities dresses. This service is available on a limited basis by appointment.

It's one of the most exciting seasons of our year! The prom shop is full of stunning gowns from the industry's leading designers.
